The next Centre for Linguistics, Language Education and Acquisition Research (CLLEAR) seminar will take place on Wednesday 26 November 2014 from 5:00-7:00pm in Lecture Theatre C, Avenue Campus. The talk is entitled “The language learning processes of students with dyslexia” and will be delivered by Dr Judit Kormos from Lancaster University. All welcome!
Here is the abstract for this session:
Learning another language either in a foreign language context or in a second language environment can prove to be challenging for students with dyslexia. In this talk I will discuss how cognitive factors associated with dyslexia influence language learning, and I will also demonstrate the emotional and motivational consequences these difficulties have on language learning processes. The talk concludes with some suggestions for teaching languages to dyslexic students and a brief overview of a new teacher training programme designed to assist language teachers in their work with dyslexic language learners.
