University of Southampton Voices to perform ‘Requiem in Blue’ this Saturday

A number of staff from Modern Languages at the University of Southampton will be participating in the University community choir’s performance of ‘Requiem in Blue’, at St Michael’s Church in Bugle Street, Southampton, this Saturday 25 April 2015. The University of Southampton Voices will perform alongside Cantores Michaelis and Romsey Abbey Primary School. The performance starts at 7.30pm.

“Written in 1998 in memory of his brother Lester, Requiem in Blue is the best known and most performed of Harvey Brough’s choral oeuvre. Like all his compositions, the Requiem mixes together different and unusual genres for a choral piece. Although based firmly in the tradition of the Latin classical Mass, it mixes together adult and children’s voices with plainsong, folk song, early music influences and jazz improvisation, to dazzling effect.”

Further details about the concert can be found on the University of Southampton Music website. Tickets can be purchased via the Turner Sims booking website.
