The Prepare for Success website, which provides a wide range of open academic learning resources to help prepare international students coming to study in higher or further education in the UK, is to receive funding for a new stage in its development. UKCISA, the UK Council for International Student Affairs are supporting an eighth phase, which will see the technical customisation of the website for smaller screens, enhancing accessibility and improving search rankings. Tracking has shown that in recent years many more website visits have come from mobile devices and Google search rankings are also favouring more mobile-friendly websites.
The website was developed and launched by Julie Watson and Andrew Davey from eLanguages in Modern Languages at the University of Southampton nearly ten years ago. Since 2008, the website has drawn over 1.4 million visits from international students and teachers in 234 countries and territories. It is now widely-used across the UK HE sector and in a growing number of institutions overseas.
Andrew Davey, Platform Manager and Technology Specialist, will lead this new phase of its development.
