The Italian film, Nessuno mi può giudicare / Nobody Can Judge Me (Massimiliano Bruno, 2011) (93 minutes, Italian subtitles) will be showing in Lecture Theatre B, Avenue Campus, at 6.30pm on Monday 6th March 2017. Review, introduction and discussion by Anita Idigbo and Carla Ringland-Mendez (Final year BA Modern Languages students in Spanish, French and Italian). All welcome! Questa commedia racconta come le nostre vite possono cambiare da un momento all’altro. All’inizio del film la protagonista, Alice, è ricca, viziata e maleducata; ma tutto cambia quando all’improvviso suo marito muore e la lascia con un mucchio di debiti. Proprio quando deve inventarsi un modo di arrangiarsi per poter prendersi cura di se stessa e del figlio Filippo, incontra una bellissima donna, Eva, che l’aiuta a trovare una soluzione un po’ inconsueta alle sue difficoltà economiche. È un film divertente sull’importanza dell’amicizia e delle piccole cose che veramente contano nella vita.

This is a comedy about how people’s lives can drastically change. When we first meet the protagonist, Alice, she is a spoilt and rude woman, but this all changes when her rich husband unexpectedly dies, leaving her with huge debts. She’s forced to find ways of making ends meet to care for herself and her son Filippo. This is when she gets to know Eva, a beautiful and seductive woman who introduces her to a new and unusual way of making money. It is an entertaining film on the importance of friends and the little things that really matter in our lives.
